Big Stone City, South Dakota, March 21, 2019: On February 5 crews from co-owners Otter Tail Power Company and Montana-Dakota Utilities, Co., energized the 163-mile, 345-kV Big Stone South-Ellendale (BSSE) Transmission Line after eight years of planning and three years of construction.
An Environmental Assessment and Compatability Determination are now available for the BSSE Project. These documents can be found on the FAQs & Resources Page of this website or at http://www.fws.gov/refuge/waubay/.

The September issue of the BSSE project newsletter, Power Delivered, has been released. The issue includes information on the final route approval, our easement process, and about upcoming field surveys in your area.
On August 13, 2014, the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission (SD PUC) approved the Facility Permit Application for the development of the Big Stone South to Ellendale transmission line in South Dakota pending final written order which we expect later in August.
